Petrol Pump Override
Scammer sticks a fake QR over the real one. Money goes to them, not the pump. Always check the UPI name before confirming.
QR in SMS / WhatsApp
"Scan this to claim your prize / refund / reward." Legitimate banks and companies never send QR codes over SMS to collect money.
Request-to-Pay QR
Scanning does NOT mean you receive money — it initiates a payment FROM you. Scammers send collect requests disguised as "receive money" QRs.
Malicious URL QR
QR encodes a phishing URL instead of a UPI ID. Always read the decoded link before opening it — watch for misspelled domains like g00gle.com or amaz0n.in.
